A Breeze

It’s interesting

Where one finds help

Or how help finds them

Who they will talk with

Who they will trust

And

Who will take the time

Who will actually listen

Actually

Listen

In those moments

In our lives

It doesn’t matter who

Will help you through

Not necessarily

A good friend

Or therapist

Just the right person

In the right moment

Sometimes a breeze

Will carry help into your life

For just the right moments

Rekindling a fading friendship

Bringing prominence to an acquaintance

Or conversations with someone

Only known digitally

In those moments

With the right connection

And the right words

And the right listening

You can make it through

Those dark moments

And see the light

For another day

Making living

Feel like

A Breeze

– James Dubeau

Awake!

Awake!

Middle of the night

Pulled

From slumber

Perhaps

A strange noise

Maybe

Because I often wake

Early

To force some exercise

Before

Heading in to work

Possibly

My bladder demanded it

Anyway

It’s much too early

For how late

I went to bed

Last night

This morning

– James Dubeau

Tired Body Refuses

At my desk

Legs twitching

Want to move

Need to move

But tired

Heavy limbs

Refuse to move

Any more

Than just

Standing

Is too much

But I will

I must

For piece of mind

Body

Soul

Push myself

Push my tired body

To do what I want

What I need

– James Dubeau

In My Head Too Much

In my head too much

As always

To a detriment

Killing thoughts

Before

They’ve had

A chance

To live a life

Out

In the wild

Play out scenarios

That would never happen

In the real world

But I cannot stop

Not with how my mind

Spins the same record

Over

And

Over

And

Over

Again

– James Dubeau

Should Have Stayed In Bed

Should have

Stayed in bed

He said

Weary eyes

Refuse to stay open

Refuse to work

To keep going

Or get started

At any rate

At this point

Staying in bed

Getting more rest

Would have

Been better

Than sitting

And pushing

For something

– James Dubeau
